The hazard
This recall was replaced by Transport Canada recall no. 2024-394. Issue: This recall is for certain motorcycles equipped with a BMW Motorrad accessory side case. The latch for the side case lid may not be properly secured, even if it looks like it is. As a result, the lid could open and detach from the motorcycle while riding. Note: These parts may have been installed on new motorcycles or sold as an accessory part through BMW dealerships. Safety Risk: A side case lid that detaches from the motorcycle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to repair the locking mechanism and hinges, if it is equipped with a side case.
