Micro Bird G5 School Bus: Steering
Affects Micro Bird G5 School Bus · 2021–2022 — about 25 vehicles.
The hazard
Issue: On certain G5 electric school buses built on a Ford chassis, the power steering pressure line may not be properly connected to the brake booster. As a result, power steering fluid could leak and cause a loss of power steering and power brake assist. Safety Risk: A loss of power brakes can cause a sudden increase in brake pedal force and lead to an increase in stopping distance. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. Both could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Micro Bird will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact a Micro Bird dealer for an inspection of the connection between the power steering pressure line and the Hydroboost unit. The power steering line will be replaced if the connection is not secure.
