Affects MC Distributing Honda CB750K, Honda CB750F, Honda CB750A · 1969–1978 — about 118 vehicles.

The hazard

*** This notice is provided for information purposes only as the subject equipment is not regulated under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act *** A safety defect may exist in aftermarket cam chain tensioners distributed by MC Distributing, sold and/or installed as service replacement parts. The wheel component of the cam chain tensioner was designed in a way that does not allow oil to seep down into the wheel bushing acting as a lubricant. Due to high heat, friction and lack of lubricant on the wheel bushing, the rubber compound is susceptible to become brittle and break off causing part failure. If this were to occur, the engine and rear wheel could lock up, which could result in a loss of control and/or a crash, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: MC Distributing will notify owners of the 118 units by mail and/or email, and will refund the purchase cost of the part.
