The hazard

On certain transit buses, the Electronic Control Module (ECM) may overheat and suffer intermittent failure. As a result the transmission may slip into neutral , and afterward be unable to return into gear. The resultant loss of propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Also, ECM failure could affect the lighting system, specifically the brake and signal lamps. As a result, the driver's intentions to turn or brake may not be conveyed clearly to other road users, causing a risk to vehicle safety, which could result in personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the ECM.
