The hazard
Certain buses fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 217. During subsequent closing of an emergency exit, the moving window frame interferes with the frame stop located in mid span along the lower edge of the window frame. During the use of an emergency exit window, a window may not open after applying the required forces allowing a person to escape in the event of an emergency. Correction: Once verified that the window is subject to an over-shut condition, the jammed window frame is released by prying from the outside to release the interference and remedied by installing two aluminium blocks each attached by two screws.
