Equipment Description: Peg Perego models Primo Viaggo infant car seat, infant car seat with base, Pliko Travel System (stroller bundled as a single product), Primo Viaggo System (stroller bundled as a single product). The bottom latch mechanism of the child seat on the left side does not completely engage the latching rod of the base that stays in the vehicle due to the improper positioning of the metal reinforcing bracket of the latch mechanism during manufacture. These seats fail to conform with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems." Correction: Peg Perego will notify its customers of the defect and provide instructions on how to identify affected seats and perform the repair.The consumer may believe that the car seat is properly attached to the base. In the event of a vehicle crash, the car seat can detach from the base possibly causing serious injury or death to the child.
