Ford E450, E350 +2 more: Steering
Affects Ford E450, E350, E450 Cutaway Chassis Cab, E350 Cutaway Chassis Cab · 2021–2022 — about 4K vehicles.
The hazard
Issue: On certain vehicles, the power steering pressure line may not be properly connected to the brake booster. As a result, power steering fluid could leak and cause a loss of power steering and power brake assist. Note: This recall only affects certain E-series incomplete vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels. Safety Risk: A loss of power brakes can cause a potential sudden increase in brake pedal force and lead to an increase in stopping distance. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. Both could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the connection between the power steering pressure line and the Hydroboost unit. The power steering line will be replaced if the connection is not secure.
