Mercedes-Benz S Class: Airbag
Affects Mercedes-Benz S Class · 2021 — about 32 vehicles.
The hazard
Issue: On certain vehicles, the occupant classification system (OCS) may not work properly due to a software error. This could cause the airbag system to turn off the passenger-front airbag, even if an adult is seated in the front passenger seat. Note: If this happens, an airbag system warning message will display on the instrument panel. Additionally, the passenger airbag status display will show the message "Passenger Airbag Off". Safety Risk: An airbag that is turned off could increase the risk of injury to a passenger in a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the airbag control unit software.
