The hazard
Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the communications module could be deactivated. As a result, the eCall may not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed. Safety Risk: If the eCall system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the communication module and verify that it is properly activated.
