The hazard

Issue: On certain vehicles, the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe may not be completely sealed. This could cause hot exhaust gas to leak into the engine compartment. As a result, nearby components (like the oil separator) could be damaged. Safety Risk: An exhaust leak in the engine compartment could damage components and create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and repair the screw connections and flange seals on the EGR pipe.
