The hazard
Issue: On certain vehicles, the airbag electronic control unit could be damaged by an electrical fault. This could cause the airbag system not to work properly in a crash. It could also result in a deployment of the airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners without a crash. Safety Risk: Airbags that do not work properly in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Airbags or seat belt pretensioners that deploy without a crash could create a risk of injury and also increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the airbag control module. If an electrical fault is detected, the airbag control module will be replaced.
