Indian Motorcycle Scout, Scout Bobber: Accessories

Affects Indian Motorcycle Scout, Scout Bobber · 2015–2019 — about 14 vehicles.

The hazard

Issue: This recall is for accessory brake levers sold as aftermarket equipment. On certain motorcycles, the adjustment screw on the aftermarket brake lever was set incorrectly. This could cause the front brake to stay on. A front brake that does not release may cause brake wear and could overheat. This problem could also cause a rider to use more throttle than normal and make it unstable in turns. Note: This is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Safety Risk: An overheated front brake may not work properly and could cause increased stopping distances or cause the motorcycle to be unstable. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the aftermarket brake lever with the new part, or to install the original brake lever.
