Polaris Sportsman XP 550, Sportsman XP 850 +2 more: Suspension

Affects Polaris Sportsman XP 550, Sportsman XP 850, Sportsman 550, Sportsman X2 550 · 2009–2010 — about 3K vehicles.

The hazard

On certain ATVs, the front suspension steering knuckles may not have been manufactured to specifications. Oversized ball joint stem mounting holes and oversized pinch bolt through holes may cause a reduction in the clamp force required to retain the ball joint stems in the steering knuckle. As a result, the upper or lower control arm assemblies could become disconnected from the steering knuckle. This could cause a loss of steering control and a crash resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs.
