Affects Mci D4505 · 2007 — about 30 vehicles.
The hazard
Certain coaches may experience interference between the driveshaft mounting hardware and tag axle structure. If contact is hard enough and prolonged, it could shear the heads off some or all of the bearing cap bolts, freeing the bearings and possibly releasing the driveshaft. Separation of the driveshaft would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. In addition, once separated from the vehicle the driveshaft could cause vehicle damage or damage to other vehicles and property, and could potentially result in personal injury or death to bystanders. Correction: Dealers will install a retrofit kit designed to limit suspension travel and allow sufficient clearance.
