Affects Peterbilt 387, 389, 386, 367, 388 · 2008 — about 97 vehicles.
The hazard
On certain trucks, the fuel tank's longitudinal seams may have been fabricated using an incorrect weld speed for the given material thickness. This error resulted in a weld which did not completely penetrate the entire material thickness. Fuel tanks possessing this defect could leak diesel fuel in the event of a vehicle crash. A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace any defective fuel tank.
