The hazard

On certain Max-Atlas semi-trailer chassis designed to transport shipping containers, brass fittings used in the air brake system may not have been manufactured to specs. The threaded end could separate, resulting in a loss of air pressure causing the brakes to engage suddenly. This sudden brake application presents the potential for rear impact from following vehicles as the brake lights will not be activated during this event. Correction: Dealers will replace all air brake system brass fittings.
