Mack CV713: Steering
Affects Mack CV713 · 2006–2007 — about 26 vehicles.
The hazard
On certain vehicles, an air system hose was installed, during vehicle assembly, in place of the required high-pressure power steering hose between the main and slave steering gears. The air hose has a pressure rating well below that of the power steering hose and therefore may rupture. Power steering fluid leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in an under hood fire. Additionally, a steering fluid leak may lead to a loss of power steering assist, requiring increased steering effort at low speeds. Correction: Dealers will install the correct power steering high-pressure hose.
