Freightliner Custom Chassis (Fccc) MT45 Van Chassis: Suspension

Affects Freightliner Custom Chassis (Fccc) MT45 Van Chassis · 2002–2006 — about 100 vehicles.

The hazard

Certain van chassis' manufactured by Freightliner Custom Chassis were equipped with front hubs rated for a GAWR of only 6,000 lb instead of 7,000 lb. An overloaded front hub may fatigue prematurely and fracture allowing the front wheel to separate from the vehicle and cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. Note: Further evaluation by Gunite Corporation (the hub manufacturer) revealed that, although initially rated for 6,000 lb, the hub is capable of handling a GAWR of 7,000 lb, therefore no corrective action is required.
