Freightliner Business Class M2: Steering

Affects Freightliner Business Class M2 · 2005 — about 6 vehicles.

The hazard

On certain vehicles equipped with both left-hand and right-hand drive positions, the pinch bolt that secures the lower steering shaft connection to the left-hand mitre box may have been improperly tightened during vehicle assembly. A loose joint could allow the steering shaft to separate from the mitre box, causing a loss of steering control that could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if loose, replace the lower steering shaft pinch bolt.
