The hazard
On certain travel trailers, excessive heat can be generated at the wire connections to the water heater while the heater is being operated on 110-volts. This has resulted in heat and smoke damage to the water heater insulation, plumbing, wiring and water heater compartment. Correction: Dealers will conduct a detailed inspection of the water heater wiring, remote relay and remove any excessive insulation at the connection between the supply line and the internal water heater wiring in the water junction box.
