Mercedes-Benz Infant Restraint, Booster Seat: Seats and Restraints

Affects Mercedes-Benz Infant Restraint, Booster Seat · 1998–1999 — about 133 vehicles.

The hazard

If a Mercedes-Benz Infant Restraint or Booster Seat is incorrectly positioned or moves several inches or more forward of the seat back in the front passenger seat of Mercedes-Benz "Baby Smart" equipped vehicles, it may not automatically deactivate the passenger front airbag. If either the child seat is not properly positioned, or moves away from the seat back, the resonators within the Infant Restraint and the Booster Seat may be outside the range of the antenna within the vehicle seat. Correction: Infant Restraints and Booster Seats will be replaced with redesigned versions which have the resonators moved closer to the vehicle seat back.
