Western Star Conventional: Brakes
Affects Western Star Conventional · 1982 — about 4 vehicles.
The hazard
On certain vehicles, the Rockwell front brake assemblies have a 6 inch diameter pilot hole to accommodate the front axle spindle which is 5 1/2 inches in diameter. On a braking application, uneven brake shoe wear can occur and excessive braking forces are applied directly on the brake assembly mounting. This could cause the brake assembly mounting bolts to fail resulting in front brake failure.
