The hazard
TWO ENGINE MOUNTED THROTTLE RETURN SPRINGS ARE COVERED WITH DAMPING RUBBER SLEEVES THAT PREVENT SPRING OSCILLATION. IN HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS THE SLEEVES MAY SHRINK IN DIAMETER AND PREVENT THE RETURN SPRINGS FROM FULLY RETURNING THE THROTTLE TO THE IDLE POSITION UPON RELEASE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. 1977-1979 BMW 320I - 5420001 TO 5431989, 5435001 TO 5460000, 5470001 TO 5473695, 5475001 TO 5483070, 5490001 TO 5490886
